to me.

this is HUGE.

June 26th, 2008

this is HUGE.

Quite a few years ago, I made a decision that I wasn’t going to start another relationship with a guy without my family’s blessing. This was made after a series of disasters where it was obvious that I wansn’t always the best judge of character. In the meantime, guys have come and gone, but never one has impressed me or my family to the point where it would get serious.

Until.

Last fall.

A coworker and friend told me that he liked me. I had my suspicions, but I thought, “He is too shy, he won’t say anything, so I am safe. I can just be friends with him.” Was I ever wrong.

So when he spilled his guts, I explained to him that I wasn’t going to start a relationship until I had my family’s blessing. Well, he asked if he could call my family and ask them, which completely blew me away. I thought he’d run screaming as soon as I would ask him to call my father… I was wrong on this point too.

So, he did. He called and this set off a series of events that brought me to a Tuesday last week,  when Mark asked me if I wanted to start a courtship relationship (which is basically a relationship is ocused on finding out if the other person is someone you want to marry).

I said yes.

wow.

And can I say that this was completely worth the wait? I’ve never met anyone quite like this guy.

I hope you get to know him, cause he’s “like the coolest ever.”

Wanted: SUN

June 5th, 2008

Recent low levels of Vitamin D require more sun. Though Doctor has prescribed pills, I am on the lookout for Bright Sunny Seattle Days with lots of Warmth and Few Clouds. Will welcome any and all Suggestions on the Best Sun Spots to Visit and Bathe.

PS. I really have to take Vitamin D pills, prescribed by the doc.

sitting on a porch talking at dusk on into the night is definitely a great way to spend the evening.

bird house?

May 13th, 2008

I have a new housemate. There is a bird who has decided to build her nest under the southern eave of my roof. She poked a hole in the netting and planted herself right in there. Its a cozy spot, but there is just one problem.

Its location is right above my bed in my room. Also, she’s decided to tap tap tap her beak on my house creating quite the din.

I think she may have just started a WAR with the owner of the grey house by martha lake.

And I will win.

in a few days…

Learning about WordPress

April 16th, 2008

Today, I decided to finally figure out the relationship between my ftp, my web hosting service, my wordpress and my domain in order to do a little blog updating. I am still relying on someone elses theme, but it’s closer to what I would actually do if I knew how to make my own CSS style sheet. I still havent found the best way to show off my photography, but that will come soon enough.

spring

March 24th, 2008

My favorite season is spring. The flowers begin blooming, the leaves come back on the trees and the grass is the greenest. In Seattle, we do get a lot of rain, but in the spring, whenever the sun comes out, everything just sparkles and seems brighter. I used to be a very depressed person and the winter months would just kill me. I would mope about for most of January and February, but when March would hit and everything started blooming, my whole countenance would change.

During Springtime, I get very antsy. When I was in college, I would skip more classes than any other time of the year. Something in me just ITCHES to get out and have an adventure. I want to leave town, go somewhere, experience the new. Now that I am not in school and don’t have a spring break, I will need to make a plan for an adventure.

Perhaps another kite flying expedition. Any suggestions of good Kite Flying places in the Puget Sound?

home sweet home

March 21st, 2008

After being gone for three weeks, I am appreciating my house much more. I love the squeaky stairs, my cold room, my never-at home roomates… all of it. I find that when I am home, I don’t want to leave it and I am finding reasons that I need to stay home. I have to work this weekend which is extremely frustrating because I would much rather stay home, clean and mow my lawn. At least I am appreciating my house more now that I have been getting very little time in it.

An Admission

I have a bad habit of leaving things in my pocket when I do my laundry. I am amazed sometimes at the things I find. Money is often the number one find, more than I thought I had. Tonight I found my winnings from the latest challenge at work. I also often find my chapstick, which shockingly, often survives. I suppose that is because I usually wash cold. Lists, movie stubs and tissue do not fare as well, though some movie stubs do ok. Pens=disaster. I think that perhaps I should learn to check pockets before I get married and have kids. I wouldn’t want to wash some of the things I carried in my pockets when I was a kid: frogs, Jello packets, rocks, and notes from friends.

Probably not so good on the washer.
